13th Annual Heritage Cattle Company Junior Show

Join us for our 13th Annual Heritage Classic Junior Show!  This year’s event is scheduled for May 2-3, at the ranch in Hungerford, Texas.  Events include livestock judging contest, public speaking, showmanship, and shows for Heritage branded cattle and progeny of Heritage branded cattle.

Stall spaces for cattle will be assigned upon arrival.  There are no overnight camping spaces available at the ranch.

    Team Heritage Junior Show

    Eligibility:  All Junior Exhibitors with Heritage branded cattle or progeny of Heritage branded cattle are eligible to enter the H Branded Show and Heritage Progeny Show.  All Junior Exhibitors may enter the Livestock Judging, Showmanship and Public Speaking events. 

    All participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and a signed release of liability must be turned in no later than the time of check-in.  If a signed waiver is not received, the exhibitor may not participate in any event and the cattle cannot stay on the premises.  All cattle entered must be registered in the name of the Exhibitor.

    On checking in cattle, exhibitors will be given a t-shirt to wear for the H Branded Show and the Heritage Progeny Show.

    Livestock Judging Contest
    Open to all Junior Exhibitors.  At least one class of each of the following will be judged: Bulls, Heifers, Steers.

    Public Speaking
    Open to all Junior Exhibitors.   Subject Matter: Each contestant is to pick their own topic, which should reflect the current events in the Brahman breed and beef industry.

    Length of Speech:
    Novice & Junior Divisions: 3 to 6 minutes
    Intermediate and Senior Divisions: 5 to 10 minutes

    Points will be deducted from contestants’ scores for not meeting the appropriate time limit at the rate of 1 point per every 10 seconds the speech runs over or under the set time limit. Time-keepers will be designated to inform judges of time faults.

      1. Topic areas provided in AJBA rules
      2. Knowledge of subject
      3. Subject matter factually correct and up to date
      4. Audience learned about subject
      5. Appropriate content organization
    2. Presentation of Speech – 40%

      3. Gestures, movements, eye contact
      4. Memorization of speech
    3. Response to Questions – 20%
      1. Complete answers
      2. Concise and brief
      3. Responses indicate knowledge
